Nevita Mae Johnson, beacon of warmth, compassion

Nevita Mae Johnson, 67, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, in Seaford. She was born July 6, 1957, in Millsboro, to the late Grace Mae (Jones) and George Johnson. Nevita was a beacon of warmth and compassion to all who knew her.

“Vita,” as she was known, was a 1975 graduate of Sussex Central High School. 

Her professional journey was defined by her dedication as an administrative assistant at prominent institutions in Wilmington, such as West End Neighborhood House, AstraZeneca, and Vanguard. Vita’s career was more than a job, it was a testament to her commitment to service and excellence.

A woman of diverse interests, she enjoyed the simple pleasures of reading, traveling, shopping, and the thrill of a good scary movie. Vita had a passion for music, a palate for cooking, and a love for long conversations with friends that lifted spirits and mended hearts.

Vita's loving presence will be greatly missed by her children, Renata M. Rogers (Corey) of Ewing, N.J., and Jason Jones of Baltimore, Md.; her adored grandchild, Michael Rogers; and siblings, Luvinia Drummond, George Jones, Alfonzo Johnson, Prezannie Johnson and Delilah Revel. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sibling, William E. Jones.

Vita leaves behind a tapestry of memories, woven with laughter, kindness, and compassion. Her ability to touch lives and brighten days will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at All Walks of Life Outreach Ministries, 10451 Concord Road, Seaford, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Millsboro.
