Phillip Paul Schuler, former contractor

Phillip Paul Schuler of Milton passed into Gods' arms Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, after complications from surgery.

Phillip was born in Dover. He spent most of his life in Hockessin where he met and married Joan Brackin in 1962. Together, they had 53 wonderful years, laughing, loving and being inseparable. Phil was an extremely talented man. His ability to be creative and his interest in helping anyone in need spurred a conquering spirit.

He was a self-taught man who was very innovative. His talents ranged from auto mechanics, completely restoring a 31 Ford, to upholstery, founding Ye Olde Upholstery Shoppe in Hockessin. His love was restoration and renovation of homes. His last venture, was Phillip P. Schuler & Sons, Gen. Contractors, from which, he retired in 1998. His son, Richard, was a partner.

Phillip loved his many friends and family and was always excited to spend time, or help them in any way.

Left to mourn his loss are his wife, Joan C. Schuler; children: Jeffrey P., Richard P., C. Nicholas Schuler and Andrea Schuler Mroz; 10 grandchildren, Phillip, Jamie, Richard, Robert, Tyler, Jillian, Evan and Brynn Schuler, Joseph and Lauren Mroz; and three great-grandchildren: Brayden, Brielle and Carmine.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be private.

Flowers are accepted, or contributions can be made to the SPCA or local animal rescue of your choice in support of his love for animals.
