Phyllis Jean Podlaseck, 83, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, in Wilmington, surrounded by her family. She was born April 21, 1941, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of Donald Dewar Sr. and Margaret Makowski Dewar, and grew up with her brothers, William (Barbara) Dewar and Donald (Dori) Dewar Jr.

Phyllis enjoyed living in Rehoboth Beach in the home that her husband Joe built. She enjoyed the community she lived in with her wonderful neighbors and was a devoted Baltimore Ravens fan.

She is survived by her children, David (Janet) Podlaseck and Susan Marvel (Andrew Glover); her grandchildren, Joel (Beth) Podlaseck, Evan Podlaseck and Emily Marvel; and her four great-grandsons. Phyllis is also survived by her brother, Donald (Dori) Dewar Jr. of Florida.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 25, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Susan and Andy would like to thank Bayada Hospice for the care they provided to Phyllis in her final days, and would especially like to thank Ethlyn “Rose” Dowdie of Newark for her undying care, respect, and the dignity she helped to provide Phyllis during the remaining days of her cherished life.

Phyllis will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
