Preston Bryan Moore, master mechanic

January 20, 2022

Preston Bryan Moore, 53, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa.  He was born Feb. 18, 1968, in Lewes, son of Bonnie Anne (Moskey) and the late Paul B. Moore Jr.

Mr. Moore was a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, Class of 1986.  He built a lifelong career as a master mechanic, lending his expertise to such companies as Melvin Joseph Construction, Best Equipment, Howard Ritter and Sons, and Coastal Towing.  Mr. Moore was the owner and operator of Heavy Duty Hauling for several years as well.  He loved building trucks and going to truck shows, and he had a true affection for old trucks because they were built right, and not made of plastic like the ones today.  Mr. Moore was a model train aficionado, with a particular bias toward Lionel Trains.  He was a faithful member of The Gathering of Milford and will be remembered for his sense of humor, jokes, and the tendency to pull pranks.  Above all, Mr. Moore cherished time spent with those he held most dear.  He was a loving and devoted father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  Loved by many, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Moore is survived by his children: Paul Moore and Justin Moore, both of Georgetown; his daughter, Julie Moore of Millsboro; his stepson, Kevin Taylor (Elizabeth) of Laurel; his step-grandchildren: Mason and Dawson; his brothers: Charles Moore (Lynn) of Lewes, Randy Hillegas (Barbara) of Mann’s Choice, Pa., and Lynn Hillegas of Garrett, Pa; his sister, Kelly Hillegas of Buffalo Mills, Pa; his many nieces, nephews, and dear friends; and his loyal canine companion, Sadie.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.

Mask wearing is required and social distancing must be observed by all service attendees and participants.
