Preston L. McIlvaine III, celebration of life set

October 30, 2024

Preston L. McIlvaine III of Millsboro found his freedom Friday, Nov. 17, 2023. He was born Feb. 9, 1987, in Milford, beloved son of Tacia and Lou.

Pres loved his family, the beach, and kicking it with his friends. Preston shared his love of sports and all the knowledge and trivia with his dad, and shared life’s joys and struggles along with his love of music of all genres with his mom. His love of family brought him home to Sussex County to try to heal everyone’s hearts. That’s just who he was.

In addition to his heartbroken mom and dad, Preston is survived by his three wonderful children whom he adored, Preston IV, Kylee and Khloe; a sister, Ashley; a brother, David; his devoted and amazing grandparents, Barbara and Wayne, and Rick D.; his loving aunts, Prudy and Beth; and some really cool and crazy cousins.

Preston was preceded in death by his Mom-Mom Bea, his Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop Ziggy, his adoring Aunt Terry, and his best friend DJ.

A Celebration of Preston’s Life will begin with a service at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Community Church of Oak Orchard, 32615 Oak Orchard Rd., Millsboro, where friends and family may gather at 1 p.m. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held across the street at Indian River Volunteer Fire Company.

If anyone would like to honor Preston’s life, a memorial contribution to an addiction organization of choice would be most fitting, or simply reach out your hand and heart to anyone struggling.
