Rehoboth Beach Country Club board members, racquets and hospitality committee members, executive leadership, racquets director and Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce members cut the ceremonial blue ribbon to officially mark the opening of the new RBCC Racquets Facility.
With the recent growth of Sussex County, Rehoboth Beach Country Club has become a home away from home to 1,001 members and their families, having surpassed recorded membership totals since its inception in 1925. RBCC completed a Club Improvement Plan renovation on the clubhouse, pool complex and driving range in 2020. With the increase in memberships and the racquets community growing, the board of governors and executive leadership decided to expand the racquets facility in 2022.
Previously, the club’s racquets facility comprised four tennis courts and a pro shop. The new facility features five Har-Tru HydroGrid tennis courts with canopy benches, four pickleball courts, one hitting wall pad practice area, two deck viewing patios for spectators and a pro shop.
“When I taped down the courts to host a pickleball mixer for the membership and we had 67 registered players, I knew pickleball was the next addition the racquets community needed,” said Terri Gaskill, RBCC racquets director. “I am thrilled with the new facility as it offers the opportunity to grow the program at RBCC and allow for an elevated member experience.”
