Rehoboth Toy & Kite Co. hosts Customer Appreciation Day

Easter play day features massive egg hunt
April 19, 2022

Thousands of eggs were carefully placed on the soft sands of Rehoboth Beach April 16, with 300 to 400 kids waiting to fill their baskets. The atmosphere was buzzing with bright colors, happy laughter and the excitement of meeting the Easter Bunny, who made an early stop at Rehoboth Toy and Kite Co. for its 30th annual Customer Appreciation Day.

Owner Rachel Webster said she always hosts the annual event on the Boardwalk the day after Good Friday.

“We have a 5,000-egg hunt with the Easter Bunny,” she said. “And then we do kite making and we have refreshments ... and it’s all free.”

Prior to the egg hunt, the store was buzzing with children excited at the prospect of what they may find in the eggs, while also checking out both educational and flat-out fun toys and kites offered at the store. Kids were able to make customized kites at a station with various art supplies, while outside, parents were able to munch on pastries and fruit while enjoying a mimosa or coffee.

The Easter Bunny was front and center to greet patrons and passersby alike, while also offering delicious candy the white furred hare never seems to get on its coat. A gigantic neon-accented blowfish, which never quite got up in the sky, hovered just above the sand as one of the several unique kites that took flight above the egg-hunting grounds. The pleasant spring day allowed participants to quickly gobbled up the 5,000 eggs within minutes.
