Richard James Kuhner, proud veteran
Richard “Dick" James Kuhner, 77, of Milton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was born Feb. 4, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Peter Edward and Laura Ruth (Lake) Kuhner.
Richard was a proud veteran, having honorably served his country in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal. He owned Dick’s Body Shop in Limerick, Pa., for 25 years, retiring in 2002. He and his wife Sandra eventually moved to southern Delaware, settling in Milton. He was an avid dog lover, with a particular love for Rottweiler and Doberman Pinscher breeds, and adopted many rescued dogs over the years. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, uncle, great-uncle, and friend, and will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sandra (Hunsicker) Kuhner; his nephew, Michael Kuhner (Heather); his niece, Janine Kuhner; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Final care has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Richard’s memory to the Brandywine SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947, bvspca.org; or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, delawarehospice.org.
