Richard ‘Dick’ Townsend, railroad retiree

Richard (Dick) Lawrence Townsend, 72, of Millsboro, passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was born Friday, Aug. 25, 1944, in Bristol, Pa., son of the late Louis and Helen (Burtonwood) Townsend.
Mr. Townsend worked 38 years for the railroad, retiring from Amtrak in 2001. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Townsend is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Rebecca Townsend; his daughter, Kathryn Lafond of Manchester, N.H.; his son, Mark Townsend of Billerica, Mass.; his seven grandchildren; his brother, John Townsend of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and two nephews.

All services will be private.
