Robert Jesse Partlow, retired attorney, volunteer
Robert Jesse Partlow went to live in the house of the Lord Wednesday, March 5, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Louis Partlow and EllaBelle Melton Partlow; and his brother, George Russell Partlow (Janice M.).
Bob was born July 9, 1938, in Camden, N.J., and grew up in Merchantville, N.J., where he met his future wife, Margaret (Peg) Durham, in 1955. They were married after Bob graduated from Columbia University in June 1960. He then enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania Law School Class of 1963. After graduation, Bob joined the law firm of Parker, McCay, and Criscuolo, Mt. Holly, N.J., where he practiced law for the next 39 years, retiring in 2003. Bob and Peg raised their family—Benton John, Robert MacKenzie and Barbara Adele—in Medford Lakes, N.J., where he was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Medford, Medford Lakes Colony Club, Burlington County Bar Association, Burlington County Elks, New Jersey State Bar Association, Burlington County College Foundation, and many other volunteer positions. He was a lifelong Eagles fan and season ticket holder.
Upon retirement in 2003, Bob and Peg moved full time to their home in Lewes, where he enjoyed fishing and boating, long walks through the state park with his dog, volunteering at New Life Thrift Shop, and becoming a member and serving as an elder in the Lewes Presbyterian Church. He particularly enjoyed his grandchildren and looked forward to their great adventures in the summer when they visited. Bob and Peg enjoyed traveling during retirement. Family gatherings were especially meaningful to Bob, and he looked forward to celebrations and holidays, along with summer vacations in Topsail Island, N.C., with his children and grandchildren.
Bob and Peg became residents of The Moorings at Lewes in 2017, where he continued to enjoy beach life, new friendships, and family time. He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Peg; his three children, Ben (Tabitha), Mac (Tabitha) and Barby (Patrick Tennis); nine grandchildren, Jack (Annika), Lucas (Meghan), Paris Stutts, Taylor Shaeffer (Zachary), Shelby Newsom (Preston), Lane Williams (Jensen), Patrick Tennis (Rachel), Nicholas Tennis and Dillon Tennis (Morgan); nine great-grandchildren; and his niece, Lisa Partlow McManus (Bill).
A visitation will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 26, at Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Hwy., Lewes, with a memorial service beginning at noon. Interment will follow the service.
