Robert M. Raley, international businessman
Robert M. Raley passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes.
He is survived by his mother; Sue G. Raley; his son, Robert Shane Raley; his sister; Suzette R. Hopkins and her husband Kenny E. Hopkins; his sister, Peggy Raley-Ward and her husband Sherman Ward; his nieces, Susan Natalie Hopkins, and Jana Renee Moore and her husband Chris Moore. Along with these members he is also survived by extended family and friends in Cali, Columbia, South America.
Robert was born at Milford Memorial Hospital March 7, 1957. He was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy boarding school class of 1975. From there he went on to University of Delaware where he studied business management.
During the summers as Robert was growing up you could always find him on Lewes Beach, swimming, boating or water skiing. It was through his love of the water he formed a water skiing school on Red Mill Pond. When you couldn’t find Robert at the beach, you could always be assured he was working for his family's various businesses. Years later after working with construction he was given the opportunity to work for Arch and Godfrey Construction in the Cayman Islands, where he later moved to with his then wife Jana, and his son Shane.
In 2001 Robert decided to make the move to Columbia, where he would soon pioneer a thriving internet client services business, M Group S.A. Robert has been residing in Cali, Columbia with his fiancée Marisol Ordonez Zamora and her son Thomas. He made frequent visits to his family here in the states.
Robert, “Bob,” will be remembered for his infectious laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and giving people a good time. He will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 17, at noon, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting donations in Bob's memory be made to Lewes Fire Department, PO Box 225, Lewes, DE 19958.
