Robert Warren Wilkins, champion race car driver

October 22, 2024

Robert “Bob” Warren Wilkins, a lifelong Milford resident, passed away at peace wrapped in his family's arms Friday, Oct. 18, 2024.

Bob was a champion race car driver known for his exceptional skill of being a dirt track wheelman in go-carts, late models, modifieds, and sprint cars. He also was a passionate fisherman and crab eater. Bob passed his knowledge on to his children, grandchildren, and anyone willing to learn. He was a proud member for many years of the East Coast Hot Rod Garage staff and was an expert mechanic and fabricator. However, Bob’s greatest accomplishment was being a father and grandfather, a role he cherished.

Bob was the loving son of the late John R. Wilkins Jr. and Elizabeth Warren Wilkins. He will always be remembered by his wife of 47 years, Kim; his son, Beau (grandchildren Brynlee and Lane); daughter, Janelle (grandchildren Grayson, Griffin and Graham); brother, Jay Wilkins (Kathleen Koechlin); in-laws, Scott Hunsinger (Nina Muccillo), Randy Hunsinger (Yanfei), Hollis Brazier (Marc Schultz) and Sara Hunsinger. He loved his numerous nieces and nephews dearly. Bob’s many friendships were widespread and everyone has a story about him. He was known for his fun-loving, kind spirit and bright smile.

There are not enough words to thank those for their support of Bob and his family throughout his 15-month battle with glioblastoma.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at Rogers-Hovatter Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m.
