Ronald E. Pollack, former Superfresh employee

July 8, 2019

Ronald E. Pollack (Ron), 87, of Lewes, formerly of Bellmawr, N.J., passed away peacefully Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford. He was born Sunday, Feb. 28, 1932, in Woodlynne, N.J., son of the late Henry T. Pollack and Mildred (Missimer) Pollack.

Ron honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was a member of the 11th Paratrooper Team. He enjoyed a 40-plus year career as a diesel engine mechanic. Upon his retirement, he moved to Lewes where he then worked for 16 years at Midway Superfresh, where he was well known and liked. In his free time, he enjoyed working on cars and tending to his yard, and was always offering a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. He had been an avid fisherman with both his father and father-in-law, all of whom kept the family amused with their "fish stories!"

Ron was a family man and dedicated husband who cared for his wife selflessly for many years. He was also a loving father, brother, friend and lover of animals, especially dogs and his precious kitty cats!

Ron is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores; his two daughters and son-in-law, Eileen Pollack of Lewes and Mary Ann and Brian Harris of Ijamsville, Md.; and his two sisters, Mildred Thomas of Deltona, Fla., and Gloria Chew of West Deptford, N.J.

Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held Thursday, July 11, at 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be private at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, staff and volunteers of the Delaware Veterans Home for all of their kindness and care during his time there.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ron's memory to the Delaware Veterans Home Volunteer Fund, which supports needy residents, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963, or to the animal charity of your choice.
