Ronald E. Wharton, poultry farmer
Ronald Edward Wharton, 82, of Millsboro passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Tuesday, July 16, 2019.
He was born July 28, 1936, to the late Margaret and James Wharton at home in Seaford. Ronald was a 1954 graduate of Laurel High School, a poultry and grain farmer, who also retired as a CW4 after 42 years in the National Guard. He was also a devoted member of Elliott Worship Center, where he served on several boards.
Mr. Wharton is survived by his school bus sweetheart Saralee Pepper, his wife of 64 years; five children, Laura Carmine (Greg), Scot Wharton (Tammy), Lisa Conaway, Joel Wharton (Tina) and Aaron Wharton, 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers Trent (Jenny) and Jimmy (Sally); and sister Judy Baker (Chip).
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 20, at Elliott Worship Center, 17249 Phillips Hill Road, Laurel. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m., at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Elliott Worship Center or VITAS Hospice Care, 20773 Professional Park Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
