Ronald Leon Blakely, enjoyed cooking, crafting

Ronald Leon Blakely, 72, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Monday, March 9, 2020, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was born Oct. 18, 1947, in Denver, Colo., son of the late Leon Edward and Hazel Henrietta (VanHousen) Blakely.

Mr. Blakely proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Coldwell Banker Resort Reality, Beebe Medical Center and General Electric as a staff assistant. Cooking and crafting were some of his passionate pastimes.

Mr. Blakely is survived by his spouse of 49 years, Jim Smith; his sister, Judith Ross; his brother-in-law Stephen Smith and his wife Colette; and family members: David S. Ross and Cynthia C. Ross.

A viewing will be held Sunday, March 15, from 1 until 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Interment will be private.

Flowers are accepted, or contributions can be made in Mr. Blakely's memory to the Brandywine SPCA, 22918 Dupont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
