Running of the Bull hits Dewey Beach

July 1, 2024

The 27th annual Running of the Bull took over The Starboard June 29, when nearly 2,000 people donned red and white to paint the town for the annual take on the historic event in Pamplona, Spain. Proceeds from the event benefit Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

The 2024 matador was Craig Longanecker, a Starboard regular who is known for his walks on the beach with his two golden retrievers, Duncan and Layla.

“It was another totally silly fun day filled with laughs, smiles and fun,” said The Starboard owner Steve “Monty” Montgomery. “All while raising funds for the Rehoboth Volunteer Fire Company. More days like this is what we’d all like to have in what has become a crazy world day in and day out. I’m thankful for so many folks who had themselves such a great time [and] were generous to our fire department and to our Starboard team who set up, worked around the clock, then cleaned it all up in a very professional and fast way. Also cheers to the matador who successfully won the [costumed] bull fight.”
