Rehoboth Beach-based Accent On Travel recently announced that Bill Newcott has joined the business as an adjunct group travel host. Newcott is a longtime writer and space science editor for National Geographic Magazine, and an award-winning travel editor and film critic for AARP The Magazine.

Drawing on his expertise in space science, Newcott will host trips that focus on all things astronomy, from viewing the Northern Lights to visiting launch sites, remote observatories and the world’s darkest skies. Newcott’s first hosted trip will be In Search of the Northern Lights Cruise, departing in 2021.

An informational event is set for 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Kings Creek Country Club, Rehoboth Beach. Attendance is free, but RSVPs are required by Sunday, Nov. 10. For more information or to reserve space, call Accent on Travel at 302-278-6100 or email RSVP@accentontravel.com.

Travelers joining Newcott on the Accent on Travel journeys will also benefit from his years as a leading film expert. In 12 years as producer and host of AARP’s weekly “Movies For Grownups” radio show and creator of AARP’s prestigious Movies For Grownups Awards, Newcott reviewed thousands of films and interviewed scores of Hollywood’s biggest names. He’s now a national film critic for The Saturday Evening Post.

For Accent on Travel, he’ll also host trips with special appeal for movie lovers, visiting memorable film locations and exploring the intimate connections between the world’s most distinctive locales and classic films.

After 25 years working in Washington, D.C., Newcott moved to Lewes in 2013. He is a contributing editor/photographer at Delaware Beach Life magazine and writes exclusive film content for the Rehoboth Beach Film Society website.

“It’s fun to travel the world and find adventure along the way, often in the most unexpected places,” said Newcott. “But the best part about travel is sharing the experience. For my entire career I’ve done that through writing and video, and now I can’t wait to share the adventure of travel firsthand on these Accent on Travel sponsored trips.”
