SDT Ambassador Training Program receives award
Thinkific, the course platform supporting Learn Tourism, which Southern Delaware Tourism partnered with to create its Tourism Ambassador Program, announced SDT has won the 2024 Customer Support Award category in the organization’s Learning Excellence Awards.
Allowing people and businesses to create and market online courses, Thinkific provides the platform used by Learn Tourism to assist and support organizations like SDT with the instructional framework needed to create its ambassador training program.
Daniela Ochoa, a content marketing specialist with Thinkific, said, “We received many exceptional applications for the Learning Excellence Awards this year, and while we couldn’t recognize every deserving program in all categories, we were particularly impressed by SDT’s commitment to empowering community ambassadors, and how it has created exceptional experiences for visitors of the Southern Delaware region and elevated local tourism. SDT’s outstanding work has also earned a spot in The Book of Thinkific Plus, our new annual publication highlighting our platform's most innovative and impactful programs.”
Scott Thomas, executive director of Southern Delaware Tourism, has been pleased with the response to SDT’s Tourism Ambassador Program since its launch last spring. “The engagement with our course from our business community and our residents has been enthusiastic and overwhelmingly positive. Our program has graduated nearly 50 ambassadors in just a few short months, and many more are currently in the process of completing their training,” he said.
SDT’s training program is designed to educate frontline hospitality and retail workers on the variety of wonderful things Southern Delaware has to offer so they can readily and confidently use the expertise they gain to provide helpful information and suggestions to visitors.
