Wilmington’s Alex Horgan, a former standout at St. Andrew’s, ran away with the overall title at the Sea Witch Half Marathon Oct. 28 in a fast time of 1:10:47, while Caitlin Groseclose of South Carolina won the female title in 1:35:29.
Paul Montini of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., won the male masters race in a time of 1:29:09, while Susan Dunn of Laurel won the female masters title in 1:46:40.
In the 5K, held Oct. 29, Wilmington’s Joey Andrisani ran well to win in 16:21, while Alex Hiznay from Philadelphia was close behind to take second in 16:25. Amy Dischler of Wilmington won the women’s race in 21:20, and Amanda Denney of Newark finished second in 22:11. Mark Evans of Connecticut won the male masters race in 18:22, with Mary Catherine Malin of Virginia claiming the female masters title in 23:56.
A new Sea Witch record of 550 runners competed in the half-marathon and 5K, and there were a lot of fun costumes in the races.
