Sharon Leigh Weatherly, devoted to her career

May 10, 2022

Sharon Leigh Weatherly, 59, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Rehoboth Beach passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 8, 2022. She was born Oct. 25, 1962, in Wilmington, with the first early snow that year.

Sharon was an extremely proud graduate of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg Va., with a bachelor’s degree in management science (Go Hokies!!). She also recently obtained a master of science in project management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Sharon’s noted career included over 18 years with IBM and over seven with Texas Instruments. She was most recently a business operations leader with Kyndryl. Her passions in the business field were strategic planning, business operations, organizational strategies, process definition, and being a career coach.

In her spare time, Sharon enjoyed volunteering as director emeritus at PMI Northeast Florida Chapter. She had many interests and hobbies. Sharon enjoyed relaxing on the beach, photography, watching all Hokie sports, cooking, collecting and enjoying fine wines, boating, time with family and being an aunt to her two nephews. She loved growing up near Rehoboth Beach. Sharon also spent over 30 years in Ponte Vedra Beach. She enjoyed hosting parties with friends, and loved the Parrot Head lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett’s music, attending many of his concerts over the years.

A kindhearted spirit, Sharon enjoyed helping people, and was always extremely compassionate to everyone around her.  She would go out of her way to help others advance their career and succeed in life. Sharaon was a wonderful and loving daughter, sister, and aunt. She was loved by many; she will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who knew her.

Sharon was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lee and Hattie Weatherly, and George and Bessie Howard. She is survived by her loving parents, Roger and Patsy Weatherly of Punta Gorda, Fla.; her sister, Darlene Weatherly Frantz and her husband Scott Frantz of Oakton, Va.; and her beloved nephews, Ryan and Austin Frantz.  She also leaves behind an extended family and many friends.

A celebration of Sharon's life will be held in the fall of 2022, in Rehoboth Beach, where we hope many family members and friends will be able to attend and share their love and memories of her.

Final care has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Sharon’s memory to the Lymphatic Education & Research Network, lymphaticnetwork.org.
