Rehoboth Beach City Manager Sharon Lynn has been recognized as City Manager of the Year by the Delaware League of Local Governments. She was presented the award Sept. 27 at the organization’s annual dinner and awards meeting in Dover.
The Delaware League of Local Governments Award is presented each year to acknowledge the state’s city managers who have made exceptional contributions to the community and profession.
Beginning as a police officer, Lynn has over 20 years of experience in local government administration. She was hired as Rehoboth city manager in 2014.
There have been a number of high-profile capital improvement projects during Lynn’s short tenure – the new city hall, the ocean outfall project, the Lake Avenue streetscape project, beach nourishment.
There has also been a staff classification and compensation study, and the implementation of MUNIS enterprise resource planning solution, a human resources and fiscal management application that is the most complex technology project the city has ever undertaken. Lynn said the goal with the MUNIS project was to provide better information for decision-making and increase transparency.
“I am honored to receive this award from my colleagues,” said Lynn in a prepared statement. “Major city projects are true team efforts and are a tribute to the talented staff, hardworking elected officials and caring, dedicated members of the community. Receiving this award reminds me of how lucky I am to be part of this community.”
Mayor Paul Kuhns said he’s proud of the work Lynn does for the city.
“Having such incredible talent at the helm, as well as an outstanding staff team, has made an immeasurable contribution to the success of our city,” said Kuhns in a prepared statement.
