The Peninsula Gallery’s 21st annual Small Jewels show featuring small works priced for the gift-giving season will begin Saturday, Nov. 30, with an opening reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Some of the exhibiting artists will be in attendance, allowing guests the opportunity to learn about the pieces directly from their creators.
Patrons are invited to shop for the holiday season and fall in love with artworks that all cost $500 or less. Unlike other exhibitions, clients can take away the piece they buy on the same day, ensuring the work can be given as a present in time for any gift exchange.
This year, the artists featured in Small Jewels have been juried by Peninsula’s curatorial team, resulting in a coherent collection of close to 100 original works from 19 artists. The lineup includes local and regional participants, and a mixture of resident and guest artists. The show features five pieces each from John Aquilino, Al Barker, Angi Beauheim, Kristin Blanck, Anne Buck, Carol Fastuca, Doris Ingram, Blanche Guernsey, Cindy Kaufman, Barbara Lloyd, Nancy McIntyre, Nina Mickelsen, Joe Milligan, Damon Pla, Steve Rogers, John Schisler, Nick Serratore, Sherri Trial and Nancy Richards West.
The 2024 exhibition comprises works done in the traditional mediums of oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor. They encompass a wide variety of subject matter, from animals and landscapes to still lifes and contemporary mixed media.
Tony Boyd-Heron, gallery co-owner, said, “I really look forward to Small Jewels because until all the pieces arrive, you never quite know what you will find in the treasure chest!”
Works from the show can be previewed at peninsula-gallery.com and are available for presale. The show continues through Tuesday, Dec. 31.
The gallery is located in the Village Shoppes at the Beacon Inn, 520 East Savannah Road, Lewes.
