Social media take flight at Wilmington Airport
Delaware River and Bay Authority officials, operators of New Castle’s Wilmington Airport, have announced the launch of Twitter and Facebook sites for the airport in response to the impending arrival of Frontier Airlines this summer.
In April, Frontier Airlines announced its plan to begin commercial air service to Delaware in July. The new social media pages will help inform travelers of flight updates, travel promotions, airport events and more.
“Twitter and Facebook make it easy for passengers flying in or out of Wilmington to get real-time flight and weather updates from us. It also gives us a way to engage with future customers of our airport and answer any questions they may have,” said Stephen Williams, airports director for the Delaware River and Bay Authority.
“We hope to not only interact with customers in the area who plan to travel to Chicago, Denver, Houston, Orlando or Tampa, but also introduce the Delaware Valley and all it has to offer to guests coming to the area from those metro cities. We’re excited about the possibilities.”
Follow the airport on Twitter @FlyWilmILG, like it on Facebook at www.facebook.com/FlyWilmILG or go to www.flywilmilg.com for more information. Delaware River and Bay Authority staff members will maintain the feed, but it will not be monitored 24/7.
At the Wilmington - New Castle Airport, Frontier customers can avoid the hassles and headaches that can be found at neighboring airports like Baltimore and Philadelphia. The centrally located New Castle Airport is just 38 miles from downtown Philadelphia, 45 miles from Dover and a short drive over the Delaware Memorial Bridge from South Jersey, making the airport a convenient gateway to these great destinations.
