Spencer E. Kennedy, forever in our hearts
Spencer E. Kennedy, known as "Float," was called home by God Friday, Feb. 28, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and pop-pop.
Spencer was born in Lewes at Beebe Hospital March 31, 1953, to the late Charles and Mary Kennedy.
Spencer attended DuPont Elementary and went on to graduate from William C. Jason High School in 1967. Spencer was the life of the party and loved having fun. His strong foundation in faith was instilled by his mother, and she made sure he attended St. George's AME Church. He was a longtime member of Trinity Faith Christian Center.
Spencer worked at Lowe's until his retirement in 2022. Spencer deeply loved his family and cherished every moment spent with his family and friends.
Anyone who came in contact with Spencer was left with a lasting impression. Spencer would always be there to lend a helping hand in any way he could. He loved watching football and was a dedicated Chargers fan. Spencer loved dressing up in nice suits and taking pictures. He also loved classic cars, music, and having his ice cream every day.
Spencer was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Kennedy; his sister, Rose Mary Wooten; and his brothers, Robert Kennedy, Kevin Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, James Eubanks and Felix Eubanks.
Spencer leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Yvonne Kelley Kennedy; his children, Dana Collick, NaJean Parker (Chris), Michelle Hanzer, Spencer Kennedy Jr., Shawntel Kennedy, Tamara Massey (Richard), Tramaine Duffie and Winfred Duffie (Latoya); sisters, Mercedes Barrett, Cynthia Kennedy, Jacqueline Wiggins and Edna Marie William; brothers, Jay R. Kennedy (Pam), Vincent Kennedy (Andrea) and Howard Kennedy; brothers-in-law, William Wooten, DuPree Bates, David Kelley (Joyce) and Bobby Kelley (Patricia); godson, Spencer Brittingham (Tammy); his last aunt, Jeanette Mobley; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
