Spirituality series continues Aug. 17
The St. Peter’s Episcopal Church summer spirituality series will continue at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, in the parish hall at 211 Mulberry St., Lewes, and weekly throughout the summer. At the end of each session, King’s Ice Cream is served to all in attendance.
The featured guest will be Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, author of “The Sermon on the Mount.” She will join live via Zoom and will respond to questions developed by community members about the book. The evangelist Matthew’s account of the sermon contains some of Jesus’ most profound and memorable teachings. This should be of special interest to congregations that are reading from the Gospel of Matthew in St. Peter’s worship this year.
If time permits, Levine will entertain other questions the audience may have about her writings.
Levine is the Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Hartford International University for Religion and Peace.
