St. Peter’s Lewes to livestream Jan. 23 concert
While seating will be limited for the live concert at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes, the event offering both classical and popular music will also be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook at 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 23.
In the first half of the program, countertenor Augustine “Gus” Mercante will be joined by Elena Smith on cello and Joyce Chen on harpsichord in a selection of works by Baroque masters Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Bach and Handel.
In the second half, Mercante, singer Sharon Sable, and E. Shawn Qaissaunee, guitarist and keyboard player extraordinaire, will present works from the Great American Songbook, along with other popular songs and spirituals.
This concert is one of a current series sponsored by the St. Cecilia Music Guild, which for the past six years has offered a broad spectrum of programming including classical, gospel, jazz and contemporary works. All events are free and open to the public.
Following the state’s COVID recommendations, attendance at the church, located at Second and Market streets, will be limited to 50 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Proof of vaccination plus a booster will be required for entry. Seating will be available beginning at 4:30 p.m. Masks must be worn at all times.
