The Friends of the Rehoboth Beach Public Library hosted a summer cocktail party Aug. 8 in Henlopen Acres, and it was a hit, with more than 250 supporters in attendance raising almost $30,000.

The Friends’ inaugural Stuff the Shelves project sponsored by Browseabout Books was also a success, with attendees purchasing more than 125 books to donate and help update the library’s collection of titles for children.

A silent auction helped contribute to the success of the fundraiser. Items up for bid were donated by Back Porch Café, Charlie’s Gourmet Pet Treats, Clear Space Theatre, Cruisin’ Tikis Rehoboth Bay, Mary D’s Dog Training, Elegant Slumming, Funland, Jungle Jim’s Water Park, Mermaid’s Kitchen, Nicola Pizza, Pampered Pet, Pilates by Tammie, The Pines, Janet
Raesly Fine Art, Scratch Mill Kitchen, Rehoboth Beach Country Club, Ruff Life Custom Pet Painting, Sugar Kingdom, Tidepool Toys, Trudie Thompson and Victoria’s Restaurant.

The cocktail party was generously sponsored by Joni Reich, M&T Bank and Debbie Reed of Re/Max Realty. Area restaurants that donated food for the event include: Above the Dunes, Aroma Mediterranean Cuisine, Bluecoast, Café Azafran, Cilantro Cocina de Mexico, Coho’s Market and Grill, Confucius Chinese Cuisine, Cultured Pearl Restaurant and Sushi Bar, DiFebo’s, Dos Locos, Downtown Blues, Egg, Frank & Louie’s, Gio’s Pizza, Henlopen City Oyster House, Indigo, La Fable, Lori’s Café, Lydia’s Grab & Go Bistro, Mariachi, Rigby’s Bar and Grill, Semra’s Mediterranean Grill, Shorebreak Lodge, Sirocco, Somewhere, Sunny Bay Café, The Blue Hen, The Pines, The Point Coffee House and Bakery, The Secret Sauce Thai Kitchen, Thompson Island and Zava’s Café.
