Sussex Pride to ring in new year at Rehoboth convention center
Sussex Pride, a nonprofit organization for the LGBTQ+ community in Sussex County, will host a New Year’s Eve Celebration starting at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. The event is being planned in partnership with the Gay Women of Rehoboth Meetup Group.
The celebration will feature music from DJ Sue P, a local legend who recently performed on the Sussex Pride float at the Sea Witch Festival. DJ Sue P will be spinning music all night and helping attendees welcome in 2023 with a champagne toast. The evening will also feature two half-hour drag performances at 9:30 and 11 p.m. curated by talented Rehoboth Beach drag performer and hostess Diamond Doll. Performers will also include the one and only Ivy Blue Austin with other surprise guests. Other highlights include multiple holiday-themed selfie stations, party favors and hanging mistletoe! Light snacks will be available.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Sussex Pride, a group that works to celebrate, strengthen and support the LGBTQ+ community in Sussex County and Delaware, working through a social justice lens. It focuses on arts and culture, health and wellness, social and support groups, and advocacy for the community.
Tickets are available at sussexpride.org. All are welcome.
