Sussex Tech gets 83 medals at state SkillsUSA competition

Sussex Tech is proud to announce that its students won 83 medals at the recent state SkillsUSA competition. Thirty-one of those medals were gold that qualified students for national competition in St. Louis, Mo., this summer.

Health professions technical teacher Nancy Massaro of Lewes was also named Advisor of the Year for Delaware SkillsUSA 2011. Massaro consistently promotes leadership, professionalism, academic, and skill proficiency in the Health Professions technical area. Massaro represents Sussex Tech and the SkillsUSA organization by teaching and helping her Health Pro students make a difference in the community and the health care profession.

Some of Massaro’s health professions students who have taken their skills and knowledge to the next level include Emily Tull who will be going back to nationals to defend her title as a national winner in Basic Health Care, and seniors Amit Vyas, Charinel Matos, Kaitlyn Adkins, and Te’Myra Brown who will also be representing Health Pro as members of the Gold medal team in Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Also, senior Scott Bell will be presenting his team’s Community Service project at Nationals.
