Gary Stewart, center, of the Tall Oak Trading Company presents Cape lacrosse booster Dan Cook with a $500 check Sept. 24 for the Scott Brozey Lead By Example Memorial Scholarship. Ian, left, Gary's son, was Scott's teammate and one of his best friends from elementary through high school and after. Scott was killed Sep. 30, 2016, in a tragic accident in Florida. Cook and Cape coach Mark D'Ambrogi created the scholarship to honor the former Cape All-American midfielder who also was a standout player at Del Tech and Wesley College. The scholarship will help defray college costs for players who want to fulfill their dream of playing college lacrosse. The 2017 recipient, Robbie Neall, is attending Virginia Wesleyan where he will play midfield for the Marlins.
Cook said Scott was "the kind of player coaches wanted on their team, the kind of student teachers wanted to have in class and the kind of young man that fathers want to have as a son.”
