Teenage Satellites rocking area venues
A group of local teens is making its mark on the entertainment scene.
After debuting at the Rehoboth Elementary PTO night in May, the band Teenage Satellites has played at a host of area venues, including Rusty Rudder, Bethany Blues, The Pond, Crooked Hammock and at young adult showcases at Sydney’s Restaurant and Lounge.
Named after a Blink 182 song, the band comprises Jamie Whitten, guitar and vocals; Brayden Whitten, bass guitar; Jase Truitt, drums and vocals; Anna Currence, lead vocals; and Jasper Isaacs, lead guitar.
Brayden and Anna attend Beacon Middle, Jasper is home schooled, and Jamie and Jase attend Cape, where Jase plays tuba in the Cape Henlopen Wind Ensemble and marching band, and also plays in the spring jazz group.
The teens met at Mr. Hetfield’s Rock & Roll Camp, led by Rehoboth Elementary music teacher Walt Hetfield. Band members say they are influenced by Green Day, Metallica, Pantera, Blink 182, and other rock and alternative groups and artists, and have started to collaborate in writing their own songs.
