Therapeutic riding fundraisers to kick off at Big Fish Grill April 8

Patrons must present flyers for sales to count toward donations
March 31, 2021

Milton-based nonprofit Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding announced the launch of its fundraising collaboration with Sussex County’s restaurant community.

The Giving Never Tasted So Good fundraising program will begin Thursday, April 8, with a dine-in or takeout fundraiser at Big Fish Grill.

By joining forces with local eateries, SDTR is seeking to create a win/win/win situation for Delaware restaurants, area residents and itself. The campaign will help promote a different dining establishment monthly, and that month’s partner will contribute a portion of proceeds to SDTR. Diners may be encouraged to enjoy a new restaurant experience or can choose to revisit one of their preferred spots, while assisting the community in the process. The SDTR mission is to improve the lives of children and adults with disabilities through riding, caring for, and interacting with horses. Everyone benefits.

Big Fish Grill, at 20298 Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach, is one of the premier casual dining spots in the region. Customers will receive flyers they can present for eating in or for takeout at lunch or dinner April 8. Based on the total of that day’s checks accompanied by a flyer presented by the dining party, Big Fish will make a donation to Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding.

To obtain flyers in advance, go to the Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding website, sdtrhr.com and click on the events tab to download a printable document, or arrange to pick one up in person at the SDTR farm, 17170 Harbeson Road, Milton. Volunteers will also be onsite at Big Fish April 8, with flyers and more information on the organization and its activities.

The Giving Never Tasted So Good program resulted as the nonprofit group sought new fundraising strategies in an economy affected by COVID-19. Joining forces with Delmarva’s  highly regarded restaurants, another hard-hit industry, just made sense.

Supporters should keep an eye out each month to see which of their favorite dining spots will be participating.

Everyone at Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding looks forward to giving local residents a reason to return to patronizing some of the area’s most popular dining spots, while helping SDTR continue to serve the community.
