Lewes Easter celebration draws more than 1,000

April 17, 2022

Canalfront Park was packed to the gills April 16 for the annual Easter Bunny Bonanza in Lewes.

With hundreds of children anxiously waiting along the banks of the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal, the Easter Bunny made a grand entrance via a Freedom Boat Club pontoon. Upon disembarking, the Easter Bunny received celebrity treatment, as he was surrounded by excited children all the way to his designated area for photographs.

This year’s event did not feature an egg hunt. Instead, children waited in line to pick a few eggs from an inflatable pool or egg-filled boat. Families could also take a crack at guessing the number of jelly beans in a container, paint Easter eggs or wait in line for a special balloon creation. Pat Breen Tennis was also on site for another fun activity.

The Friends of Canalfront Park were also collecting donations to be sent to UNICEF to help children in Ukraine.
