Volunteers help Mountaire Farms pack meal boxes
Easter for Thousands is one of three major food events sponsored by the poultry company
April 8, 2023
Some 150 volunteers, most wearing Mountaire Cares shirts, packed 5,000 meal boxes in the Easter for Thousands program sponsored by Mountaire Farms. The volunteers started an assembly line to pack and load food boxes at 8 a.m., April 5, at the company’s Selbyville warehouse. The boxes include enough food for a family of four, with 20,000 people benefiting. Early in the morning, vehicles from area churches and nonprofit organizations started lining up to have volunteers load their vans, trucks, cars and trailers.
Mountaire also has meal distribution events at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The event was part of a four-state program to deliver meals to those in need.

Boxes are piled high to be filled with an Easter meal for a family of four. In all, enough boxes were filled to feed 20,000 people across Delmarva.

A pickup truck backs up in the Mountaire parking lot as volunteers prepare to load the trailer and truck with more than 100 meal boxes.
