W. John White IV, veteran, devout Christian
W. John White IV, 62, of Milton, formerly of Willow Street, Pa., suddenly passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at his Lancaster home.
Born in West Chester, Pa., he was the son of the late William John and Marianne (Day) White III. He was the loving husband of Jody M. (Sease) White for over 36 years.
John was a proud Navy veteran. He served his country with honor aboard the USS Daniel Boone and the USS Andrew Jackson. A true lover of the water, John found great joy in boating and crabbing in Delaware. His hobbies reflected his creative and inquisitive nature, from woodworking to metal detecting to building a coin collection. John’s passion for history extended both to his ancestry and the world in general. He spent hours tracing his family lineage. He was especially proud of his grandfather, who served as the huntsman of the Chester County Hunt Brandywine Hounds from 1946-96. His love of history also inspired his worldwide travels. Above all, John was a devout Christian. He deeply loved his family and friends, always offering a helping hand to those in need.
John was predeceased by his daughter, Alyssa Jane White; his parents, William John III and Marianne White; his grandfather and grandmother, William John II and Edith White; his uncle, William A. Day; and his aunt, Brenda Houston.
John is survived by his wife, Jody M. White; his daughters, Morgan (Nate Kibler) White and Emily (Kaylee Moore) White; his siblings, Debbie (Michael) Alati, Steve (Nancy Rose) White and Carrie (Michael) Toner; one granddaughter, Eden Jane Kibler; and much-extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in John’s honor in the coming weeks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org/give.html; or Sweet Grace Ministries, sweetgraceministries.com/product/make-a-donation.
