William Ollie Collins Sr., owned Collins Auto Body

William (Bill) Ollie Collins Sr., 66, of Pittsville, Md., passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with esophageal cancer.

He was born Jan. 22, 1956, in Milford, son of the late Alvin and Frances Morris Collins.

Bill was raised in Georgetown where he learned the trade of auto body at a young age working with his dad at Collins Paint and Body Shop. In the early ‘80s, he went to work at the Sussex County Soil Conservation. After leaving, he went back to work alongside his father until 1992 when he opened Collins Auto Body in Selbyville. He continued working up until three weeks before his passing. 

Over the years he enjoyed surf fishing, camping, drag racing, steam and gas shows, and car shows. He took great pride in restoring and showing his ‘65 Ford Falcon. He enjoyed spending time with his family and hanging with the boys.

Bill is survived by his wife of 32 years, Terri Rhodes Collins; children, William (Billy) O. Collins Jr. (Ericka) of Georgetown, Caitlin Brady (Thomas) of Dagsboro, and Bobbie Lee Pleasanton (Bob) of Fenwick Island; grandson, Adin Collins of Georgetown; mother-in-law, Shirley Rhodes of Pittsville; siblings, Patricia Holden of Bridgeville, Richard Collins (Renee) of Laurel, and Alvin Collins Jr. (Donna) of Georgetown; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Collins; sister-in-law, Joyce Collins; and father-in-law, Robert Rhodes. 

A funeral service officiated by Pastor C.K. White will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 9, at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens, Hebron, Md. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bill’s memory to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802, or Pittsville Fire Company, 7442 Gumboro Road, Pittsville, MD 21850.
