This summer will be the last classes offered by Wilmington University at its downtown Rehoboth Beach campus.
“The university recently sent letters to the course instructors and others to inform them that courses at that location will be discontinued after August of this year as we transition the site for needed office space and other necessary functions,” said spokeswoman Laurie Bick.
Bick said the New Castle-based college is not closing the doors on the Rehoboth location, but that the facility’s role will be changing. She said credit classes would still be offered at the university’s Georgetown campus, as well as online programs.
The Rehoboth staff members will work on behalf of the university’s student outreach initiative.
“It means connecting with and staying actively in touch with our students, then remaining engaged and having resources available to answer student questions and provide academic guidance throughout their course work,” Bick said. “This initiative can also help to identify any academic issues that could prevent students from attaining their goal of academic success. The objective is to help each student successfully navigate their university learning experience.”
Bick said the initiative encompasses all Wilmington University locations – 14 in all, plus online – but the staff at the Rehoboth site will now be exclusively dedicated to the initiative.
