December 26, 2019

A Wilmington woman faces multiple felony charges following a domestic-related assault that occurred Dec. 24 west of Georgetown.

About 2:28 p.m., Dec. 24, Delaware State Police were dispatched to Route 9 west of Georgetown for a possible stabbing. The suspect, Tammy L. White, 47, of Wilmington, and her boyfriend, 49, were in a vehicle traveling westbound on Route 9 when they engaged in an argument that escalated when White began punching her boyfriend while he was driving.

This nearly caused him to crash the vehicle, so he stopped in the roadway. As the victim continued to drive, White started punching him again and then stabbed him in the neck with a pen. The victim stopped the vehicle and contacted another driver traveling on Route 9 to call 911. The victim was taken by EMS to a local hospital for his injuries.

A vehicle search revealed the suspect had drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs without the proper prescription. She was taken into custody without incident to Troop 4 where she was charged with felony second-degree assault, felony first-degree reckless endangering, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prescription drugs without a prescription.

White was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and taken to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $1,100 secured bail.
