High winds and heavy rain are causing power outages across Sussex County.
As of 12:30 p.m., Delaware Electric Cooperative and Delmarva Power were reporting more than 3,700 combined outages as power has been restored in some areas. Earlier reports showed more than 10,000 customers without power.
Delaware Electric Co-op says 1,845 customers are affected, while 1,918 Delmarva Power customers across Delaware and Maryland are without power.
The National Weather Service says a high wind warning will remain in effect until 7 p.m. A tornado watch is in effect until 6 p.m. for Sussex, Kent and New Castle counties. According to the Ikitesurf app, winds were gusting to 60 mph in Dewey Beach just before 10 a.m.
