CAMP Rehoboth’s Women’s Fest broke records again this year with more than 4,000 women participating in four days of sports, entertainment, activities and camaraderie April 27 to 30.
More than 3,100 tickets were sold for over 25 events that made up Women’s Fest 2023, and virtually every individual event sold out. Participants included women from as far away as Peru and Taiwan.
Women’s Fest opened with the Georgette Krenkel Welcome Dance, attended by more than 700 women.
Another highlight was the live auction, which brought in more than $13,000 to support CAMP Rehoboth’s many community services, programs and activities. The top item was an 8-day/7-night Olivia Cruise Majestic Alaska trip for two.
Over the course of the fest, women participated in sports activities such as golf, pickleball and bowling; a service program at the Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding Center; health screenings by Beebe; and bingo. The fest expo gave attendees a chance to visit informational tables as well as shop for gifts, crafts and décor. There was even a pop-up bookstore with authors on hand to sign their books.
The Fest Art 2023 reception was the biggest yet, with 42 works in a variety of media including paintings, assemblages, photographs and block prints. Artists mingled with guests and talked about their works.
Despite the rain, participants lined up for Broadwalk on the Boardwalk to raise funds for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition and commemorate those lost to cancer, celebrate survivors and educate others. Proceeds went toward programs that increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms, and provide support and resources to men and women in the local community who are newly diagnosed or facing recurrence of breast cancer.
A key part of Women’s Fest is the entertainment, and this year’s performers included actor/comedian Jen Kober, vocal duo Mouths of Babes, singer/songwriters Regina Sayles and Christine Havrilla, all-female band GirlsRoom, local favorite Fay Jacobs and popular band Mama's Black Sheep. All entertainment events sold out, including the headliner events Friday and Saturday nights at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.
The CAMP Rehoboth team sends out a huge thank you to the 70 sponsors and 130 volunteers who made Women’s Fest 2023 a record-breaking success.
