Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest entries due March 31

January 10, 2021

Greenwood Memorial VFW Post 7478 Auxiliary has announced that the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest will continue as usual.

Brochures containing rules, eligibility and detailed contest information can be obtained at the Greenwood Public Library, 100 Mill St. in Greenwood.

Students in grades 9-12 must submit entries by the Wednesday, March 31 deadline.

Students must be U.S citizens or U.S. nationals who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions, or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools to be eligible. Other eligibility requirements can be found in the brochure.

Although students do not have to be related to a VFW or VFW Auxiliary member to participate, the student must attend school in the same state as the sponsoring VFW Auxiliary.

The contest has two submission categories, for two-dimensional and three-dimensional entries. All student entries must be submitted to a sponsoring local VFW Auxiliary by March 31. The first-place winner will advance to district judging; the first-place winner from the district will advance to the department or state-level judging. The Department of Delaware first-place winning entry will be sent for judging at the national level.

Interested students must read the brochure thoroughly; adhere to all rules, directions and deadlines; and create artwork that encourages patriotism in young Americans.
