March 10, 2025

Cape Henlopen High School will present “Chicago: Teen Edition” from Thursday, March 13 through Sunday, March 16, showcasing the incredible talents of Cape students in a thrilling adaptation of the Broadway classic. Shows begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee performance Sunday.

Set in the roaring ‘20s, “Chicago: Teen Edition” brings to life a tale of ambition, fame and justice with iconic characters like Roxie Hart, Velma Kelly and Billy Flynn. Audiences can enjoy high-energy dance numbers, dazzling costumes, and the unforgettable music of Kander and Ebb, while experiencing a student-friendly version of this legendary musical.

“Our students have poured their hearts into this production, and we can’t wait to share their hard work with the community,” said Sadie Andros, show director. “’Chicago: Teen Edition’ offers a fantastic opportunity for young performers to shine, and we are excited for audiences to experience this entertaining and thought-provoking musical.”

The cast and crew, composed entirely of Cape High students, have been rehearsing tirelessly to bring this show to life. From the sultry choreography to the powerful vocals, this production promises an unforgettable experience for theater lovers of all ages.

“As the stage manager, watching the actors create their characters is a very interesting experience. Even in the ensemble, everyone has a story,” said Reagan Hansen, stage manager. “No one has a small part in this show. I love having a minute without scene changes so I can pause and watch them all perform!"

"‘Chicago’ is known for its scandalous style and iconic songs that leave everyone wanting more,” said ensemble member Laura Ruiz. “However, the teen edition is just as funny and goofy. I have been in four high school musical productions, and ‘Chicago’ is by far my favorite production."
