Poet, novelist, publisher and professor, Milton's Jamie Brown has a passion for evocative and transcendental language. He also has a keen ear for talented poets and takes great pleasure in publishing their works.
Jamie stopped by the other day to offer us the opportunity of once again helping to support the annual Dogfish Head Poetry Prize. He helps coordinate this annual competition which for several years has shone a bright light on some of the region's most talented writers. The winning collection of poetry is typically announced in early December.
Brown publishes volumes of poetry through his Broadkill River Press and also solicits written works for his Broadkill Review. He prefaces his solicitations with: "We are interested in publishing in our pages that which rises above the ordinary. We are not, on the other hand, interested in stories about your three-headed cat ... ."
Jamie has a good sense of humor and it's always fun to see him. He's also a great fan of Social Security. "Those checks allow me to publish these wonderful collections."
