16 AUGUST 2017 • TRAVERSE CITY ADVENTURE • DAY 5
At 6 p.m. in this sweet little university town, the day was settling down. Light traffic. Cars driving slowly. People walking to restaurants on the Main Street. Getting inside quickly to get out of the 92-degree heat. Side streets cooling in the shade.
Home to Shepherd University, founded in the 1870s as a state teachers college. Shepherdtown's downtown shows a creative and funky hip. Cool.
Tomorrow we'll be up at 5:15. Loading up the bikes, back across the Potomac and to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath trail, heading westward again.
