Daniel 'Dan' Sullivan, CIA retiree

Daniel “Dan” J. Sullivan, 80, of Ocean View, formerly of Olney, Md.,passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.

Dan was born in Washington, D.C., Sept. 19, 1935, son of the late Daniel P. and Anna E. (Carr) Sullivan. Dan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of South Eastern University in Washington, D.C. with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Mr. Sullivan retired from the CIA in 1994 after 41 years of service.

Dan was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2169 in Silver Spring, Md., a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, St. Ann’s Men’s Club, St. Ann’s Bowling League and a member of VFW Mason Dixon Post 7234 in Ocean View. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling and the beach. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Geraldine “Geri” (Cannon) Sullivan; two children, Brian (Kimberly) Sullivan of Herndon, Va. and Nancy (Robert) Decker of Leesburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Meghan (Michael) Orzetti, Amanda Sullivan, Ian Decker and Clare Sullivan; and a great-grandson, JP Orzetti.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 28, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach. Interment will be private.
