Peter 'Pete' Hunter Jr., dept. of correction retiree
Peter "Pete" C. Hunter Jr., 79, of Lewes, passed away Friday April 1, 2016, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.
Peter graduated from Salesianum Catholic High School of Wilmington in 1956. Pete was a dedicated State of Delaware employee with the Department of Correction for 38 years.
Pete loved boating, camping and traveling with his wife Brenda. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching western movies. Before all else, Peter was a loving family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Brenda L. Hunter of Lewes; sons Phillip Hunter (Darlene) and granddaughter Monique of Deland, Fla.; Peter F. Hunter, granddaughter Halie and grandson Dylan of Topeka, Kan.; Darron (Jill) and granddaughters Jordan and Gracie of Whiteman, Mo.; Charles J. Hunter and fiance Michelle of Lewes; daughter Christine Hunter of Dover; stepdaughter Debbie Brockmeyer (Dave) of Dover and grandson Nolan.
Pete was grateful for all the help and support of his brother-in-law Jimmy Fleetwood. Lastly Pete was thankful for his faithful Little Buddy, his toy poodle Fonzi.
Celebration of life service will be held at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 274 N. Rehoboth Blvd., Milford, Friday April 8. Friends will be received by the family from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by burial at the Cokesbury Cemetery in Georgetown.
