The iconic Blue Moon in Rehoboth Beach will soon unveil its own spinoff.
The 35-year-old Baltimore Avenue institution has purchased the nearby Seafood Shack, which will reopen in June, Blue Moon co-owner Meg Gardner said.
While Gardner would not say what the new venture will be called, she said an extensive remodeling is planned with a new concept based on fast, casual food as an alternative to Blue Moon’s more upscale style.
“It feels like a big step, but it’s a natural progression,” Gardner said. It’s a great opportunity. We’re happy to stay on Baltimore Avenue.”
Seafood Shack recently closed after a long run at 42½ Baltimore Ave. Gardner said owners Sheila Savaliski and Stephanie DaLee were looking to move on and do something else, selling to Blue Moon late last year. She said it was bittersweet to see them go, but she is excited to see what they do next.
