Sussex Tech Adult Division students were honored guests at the Meet and Greet the Many Faces in Adult Education legislative luncheon March 15. The annual event provides a casual atmosphere where students and legislators can converse about the immediate and long-term value of adult education in Delaware.
This event was hosted by Sen. Cathy Cloutier and attended by many legislators, including Sen. Brian Pettyjohn and Ernie Lopez and Reps. Ruth Briggs-King, Tim Dukes and Harvey Kenton.
Following lunch, legislators heard from students about how adult education programs in Delaware have positively affected their lives and the lives of others. Speaking for Sussex Tech Adult Division were Antonia Garcia and Jossi Rodriquez. Terri Corder, James H. Groves Adult High School principal, and Bob Powell, Sussex Tech Adult Division coordinator, accompanied Sussex Tech student representatives Antonia Garcia, Audray Austin and Jossi Rodriquez to the luncheon.
Later that day, Chanteea Harmon, a 2014 graduate of the Sussex Tech James H. Groves Adult High School, had the honor of speaking on the Senate floor. Harmon explained the purpose of the Organization of Adult Alumni and Students in Service in Adult Education.
