Allen 'Al' Frenzel, retired supervisor

Allen “Al” Jay Frenzel, 74, of Ocean View, formerly of Silver Spring, Md., passed away surrounded by his loving family Friday, April 22, 2016, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.

Allen was born in Washington, D.C., March 12, 1942, son of the late Wallace E. and Jeannette (Shoop) Frenzel. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Frenzel retired in 2002 as a supervisor of the pipefitters, steamfitters and plumbers with NASA in Greenbelt, Md., after 35 years of service. Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, had an interest in old cars, and was an avid Redskins fan. He was a member of American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro, the College Park Moose Lodge 453 and the North Ocean City Shuffle Bowl League.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rebecca “Becky” Ann (Pilkerton) Frenzel; a daughter, Patricia Lynn Vance and her husband Jeffrey of Beltsville, Md.; a sister, Marla D. Frenzel and her husband Phil Kaylor of Burtonsville, Md.; three grandchildren, Narissa, Jessica and Amber Vance; and a great-granddaughter, Zaharia. Al is also survived by his beloved extended family of nine nephews, 11 nieces, nine great-nieces and 16 great-nephews.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Friday, April 29, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where the funeral service will begin at noon. Interment with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Al’s name to American Legion Post 24, PO Box 248, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
