The road to the Uncharted 4 platinum is going to be a long one for me.
It's been almost a month since the release of Uncharted 4. I somewhat rushed through it to avoid spoilers, and I felt like I was dreaming when I finished it; it was so much better than I could have imagined, and I couldn't believe it was the last time I'd ever finish an Uncharted game for the first time. Since I “platinumed” all the main games in the series (excluding Golden Abyss), everyone expects me to platinum Uncharted 4. Why wouldn't I? It's one of the greatest games I've ever played, and Naughty Dog’s swan song for one of the most beloved series in video game history. While I do plan to platinum the game, I am in no hurry to do so.
I have started my playthrough on Crushing difficulty, but I'm only on chapter 5. Every day when I get home from work, I turn on my PS4 and look at the icon for Uncharted 4 on the screen...and then I end up watching Netflix until I fall asleep. I know it sounds strange, but I love the game so much that I can't bring myself to play it. I guess I haven't come to grips with the fact that this is it; my favorite game series is actually over. The more I play it, the closer I am to t he end.
I wish that I didn't have to rush through Uncharted 4 the way that I did. I was so scared of seeing a spoiler somewhere that I lost sleep to finish it in less than three days. I couldn't just “stay off the internet” until I finished it as some suggested because I'm a social media manager. While I did play through it faster than I would've liked, I still did my best to really soak in each chapter and everything that was going on. When the credits rolled, I could barely speak. I had spent years loving this series and it started to hit me that this was it. All good things must come to an end, I suppose. I've had people ask me via Twitter and Instagram if I've platinumed the game yet. The simple explanation would be that I'm not ready to say goodbye to Nathan Drake & company. Unlike my first playthrough, I will take my sweet time working on this platinum.
